i broke my first string last night at the anchor! it was so cool. i was on the last strum of garden (last song of the night) so it was totaly fine.
12-18-06
hey the rock competition was very fun and there was a great turnout. we got to meet a bunch of bands that we havent met yet. and then we lost to them.

but its all good and we really want to thank cheers for having such a cool venue.
12-15-06
so we played to about 4 people at studio 315 last night. the venue is very nice and the sound was pretty good. the members of plankton are very nice and we will be playing with them again at cheers in january. if the venue got about 200 people in it regularly it would be an awsem place to play.
12-12-06
The show at the Post went great and everybody had a great time. it was great to meet Ender and Rialto. also the Post is a crazy cool venue. special thanks to Fierenz for letting us play there with them.
11-30-06
The show at cheers last night was fun. Some members of enduring jolie played a set, G was there and played with driven. Self addiction played a set, and driven played a short set at the end of the night. It was pouring down raining and I bashed my knee pretty good loading the truck but the sound was awesome as always.

Ok well this little recap of the show is getting very boring so it looks like I wont be doing this anymore. But hey it was worth trying.
11-29-06
So long time no type.

I just redesigned the website. And we are playing out all the time now. We have a drummer named Blake and a bass player named Laura. We have been giving out free singles at allot of our shows. I only have 3 more songs to complete before the cd will be finished. So there you go, now I will try to start something. I want to put a review or recap of our shows here in the news section. So to start off I will review the show we just had last weekend at the corner bar in Kalamazoo.

Oh wait I just got bored of typing. Maybe later I will review the show.
11-30-05
Ok 3 months later and I got another song complete. Man I suck.

Oh and thanks to everyone that sent me feedback.
08-24-05
3 new songs off of monophalic are ready to be downloaded. check them out and let me know what you think.
04-18-05
The tracking is complete, now I have started to mix the songs. I am almost finished and man it is about time. My new system sounds really good (I think) Well hopefully my next post will be asking everyone to listen to the new album.
12-02-04
Holy crap my pro tools broke. But the nice people at Dgidesign sent me a new one. So now I am back to recording. I just spent thanksgiving in San Francisco so I haven't made much progress lately. But the base is all tracked up. Maybe this weekend I can do a marathon and complete all of the guitar tracks. That would be cool and necessary if I were actually paying for studio time. Luckily I am not paying for time as a 2 year studio bill would probably get my legs broken.
11-12-04
Synth is done until I change my mind. The base is almost complete, only 2 tracks left. Next to go down will be the guitar, then the vocals.
11-02-04
Well I am almost finished with the synth tracks for all the songs. It is taking to long because I am trying a different way of dealing with the synth and I am lazy. I have to finish this cd before the new NIN cd comes out. If not I know I will really hate my cd and want to change it. That is not allowed. I want to start work on a new cd with new songs. The only reason I keep redoing this one is because I want to get it sonically up to par with the latest cheap home studio equipment. Before I did not have the knowledge, experience and equipment to make a good sounding cd that translates well to many different listening environments. I still can't make it sound as good as it probably could be, but at least now I feel confident enough to let others listen to it. Stop reading and go vote.
10-20-04
monophalic drums are dropped. make jack a dull boy.
10-15-04
Ok the new mp3 is posted. Listen to it and then give me feedback
10-14-04
I just finished up the test track called 'the blame is mine' and it is like night and day in comparison to my old studio setup. Or finally the wool of self grandeur has finally been pulled all the way over my eyes. So anyways I will be converting it to an mp3 file hopefully tonight and post in under the listen section tomorrow. Then the rest of the tracks on 'monophonic' are going to fall out like dominoes.
10-05-04
I'm back. I upgraded my studio. I have a digi 002 for those in the know. An at4040 and I just finished building a mic booth/isolation room. So that means that everything I have previously done will now be redone in 96kh splendor. Tonight I should finish my practice song (the blame is mine, again) then I will start back to finishing Monophalic.
07-19-04
well i have been hard at work on monophalic. i am building a custom microphone tube preamp to be used for tracking the vocals. all the music is almost complete, the vocals are all that is left to record.
06-15-04
Well i have no idea what i'm doing. im trying to mix my music so it sounds halfway decent so people can listen to it where ever they are, and maybe it can get some airplay on the local radio or college show. but i am having no luck. i thought i figured it out with the track 'the blame is mine' but now i realize i just got lucky. but i have not given up yet.
06-08-04
Well I missed the dead line for a new song, but I got my mind set on tomorrow. The song is entitled -Lanyard Rings- and is the shortest song on Monophalic coming in at only a little over 3 minutes. A long time ago I was thinking that this should be the song that I try to get played on the local show on radio stations, just for the length. And I also don't say any banned words in the lyrics so it wouldn't require any editing.
06-04-04
Well waking up just isn't going to work for me as a person. But I am making progress. I hope to have another song available for download by the 7th of June. I keep getting struck by lightning though so I may be short some key pieces of equipment if I am not careful. Tannoy monitors sound really loud when they get hit by lightning.
05-26-04
the time i have available to work on monophalic is ridiculous. i need to stop sleeping. i heard there was a drug that would allow you to never need sleep. in the same conversation about the drug i heard that sleep was not actually necessary, it was just an evolutionary byproduct of not having light at night. i guess to many cave apes fell off a cliff or got eaten by sabertooths which caused us to get really sleepy when its dark.

but bullshit aside i am trying to cut back my sleep time to 6-7 hours a night and using the makeup time mixing singing and retracking monophalic. so something i never thought i would do has started happening. i wake up at 6 am and work on music until i have to go to real work. so far i haven't collapsed, nor have i made any real musical progress.

05-13-04
well i have been working on monophalic. but i haven't been working hard enough. i need to start forcing myself to spend at least an hour in the studio every night no mater how tiered i am. i have decided not to upgrade my equipment. i think it would be a shame not to release anything with my current setup. and also i don't have any money, but the first reason sounded more poetic.
05-05-04
i added a new version of the mp3, the song is the same but the file is much smaller.
05-03-04
go down load the song from the listen section. soon i will make a page so you can leave me feedback on what you think of the song.
04-18-04
ok so the professional came by and said the room was good. he is supposed to come back in a week to do a checkup and make some more adjustments. i decided to use the whole weekend to work on mixing a practice song. the song is called the blame is mine. it will be available for download from this site very soon. now i must decide if i should upgrade my equipment or just finish monophalic with my old stuff.
04-07-04
the resonators are finished. i have put them up in my room. later next week the professional will come by the studio and rearrange them. also we will put up the rest of my hi frequency foam. the stereo image and depth of field sounds really good. but of course i cant judge these things to well yet. i did manage to put black burlap on the 2 big resonators so i wont need as much additional artwork to make the space tolerable.
04-06-04
yep so i started building the resonators. this weekend i should be able to complete them all. they are much simpler that a diffuser. in fact i am going to try and salvage as many spare parts from the failed diffuser project as possible.

i looked at some planets last night with my telescope. it was pretty cool. Jupiter was the best (because saturn was not out), venus was good as well. i have never screen a phase of venus, it is like the half moon right now so it is really cool.

04-02-04
ok i got a plan, and today i will start construction on some very large resonators. these should remove the bad room modes and allow me to have a sweet spot of great sounding flat uncolored music. the plans for constructing the resonators were given to me by the sound professional i hired. so anyway i am excited about that.

and no this isn't an april fools joke.

04-01-04
well i think i now have a plan for the room that doesn't involve building a new wall in an existing room. i have purpose in life again. and after work today i can start the first experimentations. i'm still probably a month away from being able to actually start mixing monophalic. but at least i can see the future, and it doesn't include me withering away on the couch watching porn until i can't feel feelings.
03-23-04
so what's up with all of the mars stuff. it is very interesting. some people believe that there is a buildup that is happening brought to you through the television by the government that is supposed to get us ready for the contact period. this is the time in which we will be merging with other worldly civilizations. some think that this happens every 10,000 years.

i think it is a very interesting time to be alive.

03-22-04
well the diffuser is firewood. but i am keeping my spirits high. with the help of the consultant i hired i was advised to decrease my room size. this will take out most of the modes below 300 hz which will create a very flat listening environment. because of this i have moved the studio out of one spare bedroom and into another. i must now begin building a wall that will further decrease this new bedrooms size and make it the correct proportions necessary for this to work.

i also promise to keep posting my results on this site. at least i didn't spend to much money on the diffuser, but that is probably why it didn't work.

03-03-04
ok so i have been ignoring this site for a little while. i had to let my rage over the failure of my diffuser project subside before i made a new entry into this system. so yes, to recap the diffuser "apparently" does not work. i have hired a professional sound engineer to come by and evaluate my studio, and hopefully give me advice to correct the problems. in the meantime i have disassembled the diffuser and begun making changes to it in the hopes that this will improve its performance when the professional does evaluate the room. i have some new ideas to discuss with him, like altering the geometry of the studio (in reality the guest bedroom) to be more conducive to sound reproduction i.e. : the greek golden dimensional ratios.

in lou of all of this meaningless and ultimately unimportant tragedy of my listening environment, i have begun to compose several new songs. the cd monophalic is long overdue and i consider the songs and subject material of said songs to be old. i therefore am very anxious to start on other projects that will better reflect my present state of being. but i can not start this process fully until monophalic is finished and can be downloaded off this site for you all to hear.

02-23-04
i finished the diffuser. i hate it with every fiber of my being. but tonight i will do some audio tests to see if it is working or not. i could here a difference in listening to various songs last night. it seamed like the stereo imaging got allot sharper. if the tests show that has given my spare bedroom the much sought after "initial time delay gap" then i won't turn it into fire wood.

i think god is laughing - at just me

02-18-04
well the project is almost done. all of the diffusers are complete. tonight i will put the 8 smaller diffusers on the base i made yesterday to create the large diffuser. i am going to use plasterboard to divide the large wells. i hope this works out. I'm a little worried, but i think it will be ok. my next entry should be that it is complete and it works. or that i have enough fire wood for the rest of the winter.
02-12-04
well i got the wood. but then i just put it in my garage and did nothing but watch dave chapel, south park, and conanada. then i put the 4 diffusers i already had in my studio and played some guitar. it sounded really weird. so i will interpret that as a good sign. then i went to bed at like 8:30 and read foucaults pendulum. that night i woke up many times thinking that aliens were walking down the hall. i attributed this to the fact that my smoke detector died last night and chirped as it did so. the chirping should have put me in an a more cognitive realm of my dream state. also adding to my alien visitors was the fact that earlier that day i had read the first 3 chapters of a book by Dan Sherman called above black. you can check it out for yourself here. i don't recommend it though, i think i have decided after reading the 4th chapter that i don't believe a word of this "true" story.
02-11-04
only 4 diffusers are left. that means for all you math whizzes out there that this beast of a project is more than halfway complete. my last obstacles will be

1) going to lowe's after work and getting the rest of the building materials

2) designing and building the large diffuser that is made up of the medium diffusers that i am building right now.

i think i may sacrifice my workbench in order to salvage parts that can be used for the large diffuser. i put allot of magical energy into that bench when i built it so it is fitting that it will be cut up and used in a permanent fixture in my studio.

02-10-04
i put all the framework for the 7 diffusers together last night. now my living room and dining room are full of tipped over empty diffusers. i only have enough well wood pieces to complete 2 diffusers tonight for a total of 3 done. i actually made a miscalculation so one diffuser (the first one i made) will be 3 inches shorter that all the other diffusers. oh well this isn't like putting a remote controlled car on mars.

my little cat spike also had his testicles removed yesterday. he seamed fine and was, as always, helping me glue together my diffusers. i was trying to think if him being castrated was really necessary. we did it so he would not run away and make other illegitimate little kittens, and so he wouldn't mark our furniture as his territory. we changed him to be more what we wanted in a cat. but if he was able to make his own decision about the matter what would he decide. would he choose to leave to wander around searching for mates, or would he chose to stay at home and become a unix.

02-09-04
I have been taking advantage of my time. the diffusers are almost complete. i still have all of my fingers. i also have a pile of cut wood. it is snowing again.
02-03-04
last night i realized i needed a table saw to complete my enormous diffuser, so i built one out of my workbench and my skill saw. it is very scary looking. i will try it out tonight and see if i can still hold up 10 fingers tomorrow. if it works it should make my production go allot faster, and the cuts of wood will be much more accurate.
02-01-04
i finished making the end pieces (all 14 of them) to the diffusers. it took working through crouching tiger hidden dragon, ghost in the shell, and half of princess mononoke.

at the super bowl party that night i was very disturbed by the host's choice of pets. 4 very large, very aggressive arachnids. he was explaining to me why one of the spiders was franticly trying to escape its cage, while the other 3 were just hanging out. the reason was that the crazy spider was male, and he was trying to search for a mate. i learned that this type of spider is sexless for its first 4 years of life, then it 'decides' weather it will turn into a boy or a girl. the boys leave there home and search for mates the rest of there life which will last another 4 years, while the female stays at home and waits for the male. the cool part is that the female will live for another 30 years or more. this to me means that the male is not important, he is just a mindless drone that is only used to spread creepy spider DNA. the female is the important one, that's why she lives longer but can never leave home. so which would you choose to be, a male that has a short but exciting life. or the female that has a long but stay at home life.

01-30-04
today i was mainly working on another side project that i can't discuss on the internet. it has nothing to do with music. it is unfortunate that i am wasting my time on these other hobbies and not dedicating all of my efforts towards music. something is holding me back. it must be satan, or jesus, or maybe they are the same person. probably neither one of them care enough to try and keep me from music, or help me achieve my goals. but of course that would mean that there is no higher power watching over us, and that must be a very boring way to look at our universe.

i just learned that the black hole at the center of our galaxy is only as big around as Pluto's orbit around our sun. i thought it would be much bigger than that. this is where we will all end up one day. all the matter in our galaxy is heading in that direction, including us.

01-28-04
Nothing happened last night except that i had to shovel a foot of snow out of the driveway. it was great. i was to tiered to work on the diffuser
01-27-04
well i kept busy last night putting together the end pieces of my diffusers. i am making 7 diffusers, so i need 14 end pieces with 8 separators each for a total of 112. each diffuser gets 7 dividers for a total of 49. and their will be 56 individual well bottoms. that's allot of dead trees.

i need to come up with something else to talk about on my little news posts. how about the mars rovers, to bad they didn't land at cydonia. or maybe they already completed that mission years ago, and forgot to tell us about it.

01-26-04
well i did make progress this weekend. i got allot of wood at the store and did allot of cutting. so anyway the diffuser should be done soon. after that i can mix the cd and get on with my life.
01-22-04
well i didn't make any progress today. i was to tiered. but i have big plans for this weekend.
01-21-04
the glue that i am using to take out the small cracks at the bottom of the diffuser is working very well. i think that i am going to call it a success and start the mass production of the diffusers this weekend. it is a big step because if i have made an error it will be like burning money. but any delays now push the release date of monophalic back even further.
01-20-04
well i keep disassembling and changing my diffuser. last night i was trying to take out the small cracks that appeared between the well bottoms and well separators. these cracks are due to the warping of the various pieces of wood. i did also record some new riffs for possibly some new songs. before that last weekend my new retarded cat dumped a full glass of water on my G4.
01-15-04
i finally crated the soft side of my studio. i put all of my absorptive foam on the side behind my monitors also just for fun put my one completed diffuser on the left wall. the reverberation time was good where i was sitting but i couldn't hear the affects of the diffuser. some room modes are noticeable (i played allot of test tones) and the frequency response is not quite flat. i hope the large diffuser will eliminate this. i didn't take any measurements but from the sound of it i think i am only + or - 10 or so dB on some of the frequencies i tested. in writing that looks like it would suck, but it is really pretty good.
01-14-04
i spent the evening after work watching useless tv (except for the simpsons) and affixing cardboard to the back of auralex acoustic foam. this will allow me to nail it up to my studio wall and then move it easily, if necessary. i took a break from my diffuser construction because it was so cold in the garage.
01-13-04
one panel of my diffuser is complete. i realize now that i have no way to test the sonic accuracy of the unit but it looks nice. it is 1 foot wide and 6 feet tall. it is one panel of eight that will be constructed and made into a diffuser that is over 8 feet wide and 6 feet tall.
01-12-04
i have spent the weekend trying to design and construct one panel of my large fractal diffuser. i have failed so far. but i am determined to complete the project tonight and test the device. if it works i will make 7 more panels, and then put them together to complete the project.
01-08-04
i think i may have figured out the formula for making my diffuser. i have begun making the blue prints for the design of the structure.
01-07-04
today i was trying to understand work by a physicist named SCHROEDER. He invented a type of diffuser used in recording studios to improve the quality of sound. i am attempting to design and build a fractal type multi-band refraction grating quadratic residue diffuser. There are several formulas that i need to solve before i can complete my design. Any advice would be much appreciated.
01-06-04
the site finally when live on the internet. that took way to long. but i had to go home to Va for the holidays and the 12 hour drive really makes you feel like not working on a web site.

its a full moon.

12-16-03
our domain is purchased.
12-14-03
i finally finished the web site.
